There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.
~Joseph Brodsky
It's Banned Books Week, a time to champion our freedom to read. Many notable banned books are compelling reads from classic or contemporary literature. The selected 12 books are some of our best selling banned books that have been included in the American Library Association banned books lists. Many are classics.
You can see the full list of "Banned and Challenged Classics" here.

Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community - librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types - in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.
