Our Favorite Books of the Year: 2024 Edition

Updated: Dec 13, 2024

It's our biggest book list of the year! We've had a great year at the store and we read and loved some wonderful books. Our 2024 list includes new books and older titles, along with a variety of genres. This year we have 7 picks of the year for the store. These are books that at least 2 of us who work at the store read and loved. One Hour of Fervor by Muriel Barbery topped the list with three of us picking it as a favorite. Andrea described it as "cerebral, beautiful, poetic, precise, odd, and intense. An intricate story of friendship, family, Japanese customs, art and love that is fascinating."

Follow us down our diverse reading paths to find something that calls out to you.

Love this list! There's nothing quite like losing yourself in a good book to build focus and empathy. We aim for a similar sense of "flow" at minigame with our brain-training challenges. Both are essential for a well-rounded mental diet in our digital age. Can't wait to pick up a few of these titles!

Been using Pico Image for a while now for resizing and compressing images. It runs entirely in the browser so nothing gets uploaded to a server, which I find reassuring. Background removal works pretty well too, saves me from opening heavier software for simple tasks.

Which of the Retro Bowl seven picks surprised you the most - maybe a book you didn’t expect to love at first but that ended up staying with you long after reading?
